This is the sight that greeted me last week when I walked into my parent’s back kitchen. Their cat, or as my mother says “Your father’s cat”, taking 40 winks.
In a bucket.
Apparently, it’s become a daily afternoon occurrence.
The cat likes it because the bucket is just the right fit. It is nice and cosy, and for some reason dogs don’t bother cats in buckets. Who knew?!
Now that the cat has commandeered it, nobody is going to use the bucket for anything else. So she has a ready-made napping zone just where she likes it.
I think we should all take a leaf out of that cat’s book.
Stake your claim, mark your space and take a break.
Oh to have a me-sized bucket all for myself!
Note for readers: Depending on your country of origin, the Irish ”back kitchen” is known to you as a Mud Room, Utility Room or Laundry Room. It’s that place you leave the mud, boots, coats and laundry. And the cat in a bucket. If you happen to have a cat.

Aww – can’t beat cats when it comes to find fling a comfy spot. This puss has it sussed.
I need a bucket!
Wise idea; great pictures!
Gorgeous birds-eye view pic!
Love this! I could use my own bucket….
Haha funny! My mum found “my cat” the other week (even though I don’t live in the same house, live 5 hours drive away and didn’t live there when she got it!) curled up in my brand new Moses basket! Joy!
Oh, these cats, they are classic, aren’t they? I always had this picture of cats as so delicate and prepossessed, and yet here I see your cat in a bucket and the kitten who has just taken up residence here has chosen some most outlandish places to sleep. Lovely creatures.
Funny thought.
Cats love finding places all for themselves, don’t they? And not exactly where you’d automatically think!
cute
Haha! Love this
