Have you ever seen a three-eyed purple sparkly alien? No? Well, here’s your chance. The school Halloween Party happens this week, just before they break up for mid-term. The Halloween Party is the highlight of the girl’s school year. The only talk at the moment is of outlandish costumes, scary makeup, and spooky accessories.
This is the first year that I think I have everything under control. Famous last words, right?!
DD1 decided ages ago what she would wear to the Halloween Party. It’s a surprise. If I told you I would have to kill you, so you won’t be getting a preview just yet. But she has her costume sorted and ready to go.
DD2 however is going to be an alien. A three-eyed purple sparkly alien. She decided on the three-eyed sparkly alien bit. I chose the purple because we have purple sparkly clothes that suit the occasion. (Yes, I was thinking ahead!) I bought purple-ish facepaint last month, so all we had to sort were the three eyes for her little alien head.
After a bit of research on Google, we came up with the idea of using craft balls, pipe cleaners and a hairband.
So we now have the eyes sorted. Ok, maybe a bit amateur looking, but we prefer the homemade variety of costume in our house.
Do you like the purple fluffy eyelashes? This is a girl alien, obviously.
The complete finished alien will be featured in my next post. I can’t give you too much of a preview right now, you never know who might be watching….. mwah ha ha ha!!!!

Love the eyeballs! Brilliant!
Thank you it was a joint effort from myself and DD2. I’ve been adding extra glue to make sure we don’t lose an eye on the night!!
My nine year old daughter completely approves of the purple fluffy eyeballs!
Very happy to hear that. Its very nerve-wrecking to present your costume to the public…!!
Oh that’s so clever! I love it
I have to admit Google was the source of our inspiration. We just tweaked it a bit but we’re very happy with the result.
Excellent…and pretty darn clever too
Its perfect as long as the eyes stay in place for the party!
Good point!!
Those are great! I’d wear them myself.
Feel free to copy the idea.
The eyeballs look cool.
Thank you. I think so too.
Adorable!
Glad you like them.
Lovely
it’s really nice to read your posts, a big hug from Italy
Aw. Thanks for visiting. Hope we see you again.
Sure
They are awesome! My daughter keeps changing her mind and my son wants to be a ghost so one easy peasy the other not so.
The change of mind over costumes is usually our problem too. So when the decisions were so definite this year I had to get going with the costume making. I didn’t want to give anyone a chance to have a change of heart. Good luck with yours, hope we get to see the ghost and sister on your blog.
haha thats brilliant! Ill def remember that for when Bambina is older. x
Yes these are the kind of ideas you need to store up. For when you are hit with a three-eyed alien request at the last minute. It will happen….
Kids come up with the best ideas! And the headband is a great rendition. Hope they have a great time.
Thanks. Its always a great night for the kids. The parents come out looking shell shocked though!!
Talk about planning, Ellie, this is so organised!
And I LOVE the headgear. Now I want three eyes too.
Having the school party a week before Halloween is one way to be forced to get organised!!
I like the eyeballs and the evil laugh at the end, Ellie!
Can’t wait to see the rest… love your header by the way as well!
Thanks. The header is courtesy of http://www.picmonkey.com Its great for working with photos. Don’t blame me if you start losing hours over there.
I shall have to check that site out!
I confess I have bought costumes this year, amid all the flurry, so have to slink shamefacedly off at the sight of those three magnificent eyes.
While we are confessing, I admit I may have a stash of bought costumes in the attic from previous years.
