The Blog Awards Ireland 2012 were held yesterday.  Now this is a big deal, a proper big awards ceremony with dinner, drinks and dancing afterwards.  I was glued to twitter all evening to get the results, waiting for updates from bloggers I have got to know through my own blog. It was great to follow their evening on twitter, I almost felt like I was there myself. In fact, I was very sorry that I wasn’t there to join in the fun.  (I am still wondering about some of the dancing…?)

You may have seen comments from one Mona Wise on some of my posts.  In addition to being a Galway girl like myself, Mona has a great blog of her own called Wise Words.   I really enjoy reading her blog because it centres around food and cooking but she also includes snippets of family life, events and happenings in Galway and Ireland.  Her sense of humour shines through it all.  In fact her blog is so good that the Sunday Times (Irish Edition) recently hired Mona and her husband The Chef, to write a weekly column including recipes. Mona also recently published her own memoirs/cookery book called ”The Chef and I”.  She’s one very busy lady.

So I was thrilled to hear Mona won four, yes FOUR, awards last night.  She won Best Food/Drink Blog, Best Photography Blog, Best Blog by a Journalist, and most importantly of all the overall prize of Best Blog.   I recommend you go and have a read of Mona’s blog, I think you will like what you see.

Now there were many other great blogs who made the list of finalists, so if you would like to discover some new reading, why not take a look here:  Blog Awards Ireland 2012 Finalists List. You won’t be disappointed. If that’s not enough for you they also have the Short List and Long List of entries there too!

So to finish up for now, an important little statement:

Congrats and well done Mona!
